I've never seen the original

And I really enjoyed this. The fact that it's a remake aside, what about it to people really have a problem with? I thought the acting was great and it was fun and creepy and a little campy and a good monster flick.

reply

same here, it's one of those movies that I can watch again at least once a year and enjoy it.

I liked it pretty well. I'll watch anything with Colin Farrell, and there was one very unexpected scene that I thought was well done and horrific. I don't usually prefer remakes to 80s movies since I grew up in the 80s, but this one was as good if not better.

reply

People are fiercely loyal to the original out of 80s nostalgia, but honestly I've always felt it was overrated, and so are the 80s, lol. I enjoyed this WAY more!

reply

I like it in ways. I wish that they had kept the sexiness and atmosphere from the original.

I think jerry's face makeup is more frightening.

reply

I see what you mean about the sexiness of the original, although I kind of couldn't connect to that as I've never found Chris Sarandon attractive -- so the movie was all a bit "ew" from that aspect, for me.

I'm not that into Colin either, lol! But I think this one was very entertaining, and yes, his transformation face is more frightening.

I think the music helps, the women and the song playing as he seduccesses them before buying helped.

Also Any doing the same to Charlie at the end. Still I wish they had explained what the reincarnation plot was about. That was one thing I was happy the remake left out instead of leaving it open.

reply

Oh yeah, I forgot about the reincarnation plot - it's funny but I didn't miss that in the remake.
