Will Hollywood learn the right lessons?

That was a excellent article. Yes, this film had proven a lot of people including the Hollywood elite wrong in terms of its success and the huge impact it's starting to have on pop culture. Civil War and BvS may have been the big winners of this year in terms of box office success. But it's this film that drew in a lot of people, some who aren't even into superheroe films like that, due to its freshness, unapologetically craziness, and for being politically incorrect.

The film didn't let its small budget, R rating, and graphic nature stop it from achieving success and popularity. It's a true underdog.

Thank you for the link!

I don't think there's been a superhero film that appealed to non-comic book readers since the first Iron Man. Literally everyone I know that doesn't go to comic book films loved the hell out of this. BvS, Civil War and Apocalypse already had a built in audiences, this didn't. Certainly a popular character among comic book fans but utterly unknown to non fans. Add in the success of an R rated comic book film and this really was groundbreaking. It outperformed BvS in terms of profits, which is insane. And I highly doubt Suicide Squad would have succeeded if Deadpool hadn't opened the door to the criminally insane superhero... and that had the added bonus of The Joker and Batman in it, not to mention quite a few well known actors. Reynolds still had Green Lantern hanging over his head.
