Finally got around to seeing this. Don't hate me, but I only thought it was ok. Kind of like the movie version of a teenager trying to act all grown up by cursing and so on. It did make me laugh one or twice though, which is pretty good by today's standards.
Anyway, my question is, how did Ajax expect to kill Deadpool? He lures him to that structure (was that a decomissioned helicarrier?) to kill him by a) having his men shoot him with guns and/or b) kill him with melee weapons - axes. Now he already knows Deadpool is virtually impossible to kill, even saying there won't be anything of him left, but neither of these methods would seem to leave to the 'nothing left' result. Even impaling him and leaving him in an inferno didn't kill him, so unless Ajax had something else in mind the audience doesn't know about, it seems he really had no way to kill him. In fact, towards the end, they even end up in a fistfight. Clearly he must know he's not going to beat Deadpool to death with his bare hands.
As an aside, it is heavily implied that Ajax has no feeling whatsoever, either physically or emotionally. How is he able to conduct those treatments and operate that equipment with no feeling in his fingers? Also, while he clearly does not feel remorse or mercy, he clearly has other emotions such as anger, and he even laughs at times.
While I'm not familiar with the comic books, I really believe they could have done a better job, particularly with this villain.
Extreme overkill might do it and at worst you'll end up with Headpool, franchise baby. Also Deadpool can be knocked out so Ajax wouldn't have to do it then and there.
was that a decommissioned helicarrier?
No it's a legally distinct from marvel decommissioned helicarrier.
As for Ajax and feelings, he went through the same program as Wade so probably lost all the caring emotions from that but still have some others and he lacks pain receptors which can happen in real life.
The idea seems to have been to disable him so that they could then shred his body and see if that does the trick. You shoot Deadpool in the right places and he goes down for a brief period. In that time, you can walk over to him and keep shooting him in a vital organ faster than he can heal until someone else comes over with something to hack him up with. You can also have Angel Dust beat on him some and then hold him down until someone else brings hacking materials over. Or you can cut off his arms and legs, which would disable him for at least a good couple of hours since it takes awhile for him to regrow body parts and then you can have some fun torturing him for a bit before, once again, trying to hack him up further.
The thing with these "unkillable" healers is that they're not unstoppable and once you disable them you can then even trap them for a prolonged period while trying different methods to kill them if you wanted to. For example, if you want to trap Wolverine the best way, in my view, is to just shoot him in the heart and keep shooting him there until you can get close enough to stab him through the heart with something. Then tie it down so his healing can't push it out and you have effectively vampired him. The best part is that it's really rather simple, it just requires having advanced knowledge of how his power works and getting to him at a time when there are aren't other powerful mutants who will try to stop you or come looking for him.
So the presumed disabling part of Ajax's plan is solid even if the hacking method proved futile. The key would be to not make assumptions and instead stay around to monitor the results so another method could be tried if that fails.

lol he did something similar to this in one of the comic books too. When he kills the entire Marvel Universe including the writers. He trapped some mutants to some device that continued to electrocute them every time they began to heal, or something along those lines, it's been years since I've read them, I should freshen up my memory. :) reply share
To answer your questions I actually think that's the fun of these types of movies. You get to sit here and come with so many ridiculous ways to kill the supposed unkillable ones.
The guy before me nailed it, but I want to have a go anyways lol, for Francis (hehe) I don't think he necessarily was all about "Killing him" by that point. Like others say, once he had him disarmed, or should I say, dismembered of some sorts. Francis even admitted he enjoyed the challenge.
"I almost miss the *beep* I like a challenge" So at that point, it was a pissing contest. At least that's my opinion. If Wade hadn't killed him they probably would've played a pissing game until the end of time, constantly competing for dominance. Or at least until someone killed Francis, or trapped Wade. The difference between Wade and Francis is that Francis is a Psychopath, like literally. If he were a real person he'd be diagnosed as a Psychopath. Devoid of emotional connection with others, that means no remorse, no care, no bonding whatsoever. He kept Angel around because she was useful. She may have cared about him, but he'd probably break her neck in a heart beat if she fu**ked him over in any way. (There's also more to his story in the comic books, but I haven't read those) Wade is a psychopath too, but not the official Psychological definition, he's the friend you grow up with that you refer to as the psycho of the group. Wade used to be a Mercenary, those guys don't just sit around and watch Disney Movies all day, especially if he worked for a private militia. It made him a bit mentally unstable compared to the average person. Like a certain deleted scene shows this, now just in case anyone or you has not seen the deleted scenes yet I will warn for spoilers just incase you want to see it for yourself
IN the deleted scene he and Vanessa go to Mexico to find other treatment for his cancer, they found a clinic, lots of people there, an old couple, the husband had cancer. Some people with their sick children. Vanessa and Wade even talk to the old couple a bit, and they find out they moved in with their kids, because they couldn't afford their home after cancer treatments. A cancer ridden little boy picks up a piece of candy, a nurse yells at him and Wade pays for the candy. Wade decides to sneak in the back and witnesses the doctor as a crook, telling people he had cured them but hadn't. Wade stabs him to death in the throat with his own scalpel
Wade would just end up bored of Francis' crap and end up shooting him anyways. Wade is a killer through and through, he's *beep* up to put it bluntly, but he has a conscience.
As for Francis' nerve endings, he could feel he just meant he could no longer feel pain. There are actually people in the world with a genetic mutation that causes them not to feel pain. It seems like a cool super power but actually it's bad. They do more wear and tear on their bodies because they can't tell when their body is calling out for help because its malfunctioning. So if they have been walking for a while, they won't feel the pain in their legs, feet or back, and those joints start to wear out faster. They can bite off a good chunk of their tongue by accident. Children with it are discovered because they bite chunks off their lips, fingers and tongue, and since they don't feel it, their nervous ticks of biting that most people have becomes dangerous. But of course the movie is going to make it look like a super power.
I knew someone who was paralyzed from the waist down and she happened to casually mention that she has to look to see if she's on the toilet because she can't feel that she is. That was the first time I'd ever thought about it.

Well, we don't really know for sure. And probably Francis doesn't know exactly how either. But, if you disable him, you could try different ways to kill him until he can't recover. Perhaps chopping him up into very tiny little pieces might do it. Maybe dissolve him with acid or poison him. Maybe suffocate him or drown him.
And, if you can't kill him, put him in a steel cage, encase it in a block of concrete and drop him in the deepest part of the ocean. He may be alive, but he's not coming back any time soon.
Or, put him in a rocket and shoot it into the sun or just out into space. Goodbye!

It was a lousy plot and it made no sense for normal people. Only crazed Deadpool fans could understand what the screenwriter and director were thinking.
There was absolutely nothing logical in Ajax's actions luring Deadpool there.
My ratings are not always like the IMDB average score because I only enjoy intelligent movies.
Ok, since you didn't get it let me explain this super difficult to understand plot.
A film like this needs a big show down between hero and villain.
So he kidnapped his girlfriend, told him to come to a place that was franchise specific (satisfying Marvel nerds), where things would inexplicably explode gloriously if so much as sneezed at, and once his hirelings were dead he fought the hero until he lost, and was killed.
I hope that helps clear up this arcane and confusing plot for you.
