Deadpool: First CBM To Be Nominated For SomeThing Other Special Effects.

Deadpool was a great piece of work and it has rightfully earned its placed in cinematic history.

Batman Forever had a cinematography nomination at the Oscars, as did Dark Knight.

Heath Ledger won Best Supporting Actor for The Dark Knight.

Hey guys, guys! Why the long faces?

reply

Yeah but Heath's award was a sympathy thing so that doesn't count.

reply

I don't think so. Had Heath Ledger lived, I think he still would have won. Though Josh Brolin probably would've been bigger competition.

reply

That's doubtful.

reply

he was just to stupid to keep living.

reply

Nominated by the writer's guild. Things are looking good.

Totally.

The Dark Knight won for Supporting Actor and got nominated for multiple Oscars.

Ghost World, American Splendor and A History of Violence are films based on graphic novels that got nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Road to Perdition, also based on a graphic novel, got nominated for multiple Oscars and won for Cinematography.

Technically a comic STRIP but Al Pacino was nominated for Dick Tracy.

Everything else doesn't count neither. Talking about mainstream comics here.

No. I've seen ALL the performances that year. I follow the Oscars every year. I do honestly think Heath Ledger still would have gotten nominated AND won if he hadn't died. His performance is THAT great. The only difference is that I think Josh Brolin would've been bigger competition.

reply

lol You're joking. In retrospect, Heath's performance was laughable.

reply

Whaaat?!? You're crazy. Heath's performance was LEGENDARY.

reply

Talking about mainstream comics here.

What's obscure about Batman? And I think you really mean "superhero comics". I knew about Ghost World long before the film and I live in a tiny country with no real comics culture. But then again, I was interested in comics in general, not only superheroes.

Would You like to know more?

Multiple comic book movies have been nominated for awards outside of special effects.

Yeah, this thread has too many caveats and exceptions. (The OP didn't wanna count Heath Ledger's Oscar win)

reply

The award was given to the actor... not the movie. The difference is " Dead pool" the movie is gathering a host of award, the produces are recognizing the value of the movie. Screen writers are noticing & @ Ryan Reynolds is getting noticed. Prior to Dead pool, the movies have been linked into one big bundle of ???? Dead pool put a unique spin on the genre,
