Normally, I wouldn't expect a film like Deadpool to receive any attentions at the Oscars (good movie, don't get me wrong, just not an Oscar-y kind of flick), but with its Best Picture Golden Glove nod plus a Writer's Guild nomination, could it actually stand a chance at being nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars? Probably not, but crazier things have happened. We'll find out on the 20th I guess when they announce the nominations.

I agree!

I'm calling it right now. I could be wrong but Ryan Reynolds and this movie will probably win the categories they were nominated in tonight.

It's definitely not the kind of film that gets Oscar notice. That being said, at this moment it wouldn't be surprising if it does get nominated for a few categories (Best Picture is a long shot but you never know).

Deadpool is now one of the PGA nominees.

Maybe they are nominating it to attract a new audience, Deadpool is good but I don't think they really consider it a true contender. This will attract fans of the comic movies to watch the award show.

It seems like this movie will definitely attract some attention at the Oscars by this point, but the question is, which ones? I don't think it'll score a Best Picture nod, but perhaps Ryan Reynolds can get a nod for Best Actor? Or maybe this movie can get a nomination for Best Screenplay?

I seriously doubt Ryan would get nominated. And honestly, although I'm a Ryan fan, I don't think he deserves a nomination over most of the other actors in the conversation for best actor this year.

However, I definitely think the film deserves a best adapted screen play nod. I wouldn't object to it getting nominated for best director either.

well It just got a producers guild award nom as well. You never know. Tropic Thunder got Downey an Oscar nom so weirder things have happened.

Its looking more and more likely of scoring a Best Picture nomination by the day. Crazy, but it might just happen.

Noms were announced this AM, I was very hopeful too but looks like DP got shut out completely, not even makeup or technical awards... bummer.

I was surprised it didn't even get a best makeup nomination. If nothing else, I thought that would at least be its one nomination.
