Why did everyone suspect Deadpool to be nominated for Best Pict

Why did everyone suspect Deadpool to be nominated for Best Picture? Like can someone actually please explain? I'm seriously confused. Everyone knows the Oscars don't give a sh!t about superhero movies. I believe sometime in the future at least one will be nominated for Best Picture, but why did everyone think Deadpool would be the first? Deadpool is literally the last movie I'd expect to be nominated for Best Picture. It was very entertaining, but it had no Best Picture qualities. It was very mindless, it had no positive messages or role models, it had one-dimensional characters, it was full of very immature humour, etc. The type of superhero movie with Best Picture qualities is deep, three-dimensional, smart superhero movies like The Dark Knight.

"It was very entertaining, but it had no Best Picture qualities."
- what is "Best Picture qualities"? I need to understand this first, since people always say this but fail to inform exactly what it means. - I hope however, that if you think about it you will realize that it will be different from person to person and as such no such thing as "Best Picture qualities" can exist as a measuring tool.

"Best Picture qualities" isn't a personal opinion. It's the qualities the Oscars generally like, and will only nominate movies for Best Picture if they have those qualities. Best Pictrue qualities are:

-Deep, complex, three-dimensional characters

-A smart, deep, complex plot

-Positive messages and role models

-Things about the plot and characters to analyze, debate talk about, etc

-Scenes and plot points that are sad, touching, powerful, moving, heartwarming, etc

-Deep, complex themes

Now here are some superhero movies that do and don't have Best Picture qualities:

Do:

The Dark Knight

X-Men: Days of Future Past

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Don't:

Deadpool

Suicide Squad

Batman and Robin

Batman and Robin. LMAO!!! Does that even qualify as a movie? I thought it was a PSA on how not to make film. LOL. It was SOOOO terrible.

Time wounds all heels.
