RZA goes from gangsta killah to MLK in five minutes flat....

He murders his own henchman in cold blood. Kidnaps people. He sends his goons to terrorize the other citizens i.e. drag them down hallways by their hair. Excuse me...bah day hurr. He gives a gun to every goon that walk upright. He sticks a gun in everyone's face as a greeting. He claims that cash is everything blah blah blah. Then...five minutes left in the movie...he talks about the struggling people...out there...survivin'....tryin' to get by....WTF? His only character arc was that his girlfriend shot him. Then all of the sudden he's Maya Angelou.

Lol yeah my thoughts exactly. What were they thinking with his character?

As soon as he gave that speech about dealing drugs to help people get by because the government took the schools, hospitals etc away I knew he'd end up being good.

And Lino killed a cop for giving Lola to him in the beginning. Given the fact that the writers decided to make Tremaine sympathetic in the end and portray him as a guy who only wants to survive and help people deal with the pain, this suddenly makes that cop one of the only NON corrupt cops in the movie, and makes Lino into a murderer with no real justification for it. So by trying to make some contrived PC statement about how Tremaine wasn't actually bad, they made the only guy that was good through the whole movie into someone bad.

That's part of why District 13 was better. District 13 made it clear that there are good people inside of the walls, but it never tried to make the drug dealers and villains inside District 13 into heroes. That's something Hollywood can't do anymore. After eight seasons of 24, Iron Man 3, Brick Mansions and a bunch of other crappy action movies, the real villain always has to be some nerdy white guy with money. Everyone else is either a puppet or underprivileged and made to look like a villain by said nerdy white guy.

In this world, some people are just villains, doesn't matter where they came from or what they've been through. Some people will always take advantage of others. "Redeeming" Tremaine and then having him run for office turned this movie from a decent time water into a steaming pile of ****bacon.

The whole idea is straight up stupid. The guy attempted to kill innocent people with the bomb only for it to not work and then decides nope, I won't do that. It was completely idiotic how his character was written and in fact insulting to us the viewers.
