Why make remake with same actor?

According to IMDB David Belle who was in the original district 13 is also going to be in the remake which makes no sense what is the point of making a remake if your just going to keep the same actors

look at me damien it's all for you

reply

david belle was the stunt coordinador on the 2 original movies and he is a profesional stuntman being in the remake will bring a continuity between the 3 movies and david belle being in the movie will guarantee original and good action scenes in the movie

reply

True but he can be the stunt coordinador without being on screen and once again i dont see the point of making a remake with so many things being the same i might as well go watch the original district 13

yes it,s true it,s a good point but a remake it,s making the same movie in another language or redoing the same movie you have to keep the same script or else it,s not a remake it,s a different movie. They decided to keep david belle to keep the fans of the first 2 movies happy and win a much bigger audience giving the other role to paul walker a hollywood star that made blockbuster movies.

reply

This is becoming a trend, and I don't really mind it.

This is common on music videos. It lets the director showcase their vision with the same actors.

reply

You still haven't seen the original yet?

"i dont see the point of making a remake with so many things being the same"

You have no clue as to what a 'remake' is, do you?

reply

It is a heavily Parkour based movie. David Belle is the creator of Parkour. Fans (and Traceurs alike) would be in a frenzy if he were not in the remake. He is the reason most people watched the original.

reply

Agreed with the last two posters. David Belle is a legend among his fans; bringing him back in the remake was a clever marketing step.

p.s. I love DB and will be watching the remake only to see him doing Parkour.

However, it's 10 years since B13 and Belle must be pushing 40. Most of the top traceurs are in their 20s. It's not a sport/activity which is forgiving on the body.

I guess it will be like Jackie Chan's Hollywood career - his best stuff was all done in HK.

reply

Even in his early forties, Belle is still one of the most efficient traceurs in the world, simply because he's perfected it since he was a child. Moves that trained stuntmen struggle with he does in his sleep. It's in his musclememory. And if you perform the moves with proper technuiqe; landing correctly etc, you can keep the strain on the body minimal. Look at how many ruin their bodies after just a few years of parkour, and at Belle who is still going strong at 40. The result of training smart, proper conditioning and flawless technuiqe.

He created Parkour. I think he can handle it. Also, Parkour is an art and a lifestyle.

reply

An art of running away from the cops.

two reasons:
Money
he's great at parkour.

It happened before, Tom Cruise starred a remake with Penelope Cruz repraising the same role: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0259711/

My two cents, bye

reply

I was wondering if this ever happened before.

I guess there are also remake where an original cast member or two have cameos.

reply

Is English your native language? Because I'm not sure what you're trying to say here.

Tom Cruise was in the remake only. Again, not sure what you're trying to say here.

Penelope Cruz was in both versions, so its a remake with the same actor -actress for that matter-

My two cents, bye

he is a different character the original character was named leito this one is named lino

reply

They changed a few other names, more than likely cause Leito is a very much more french name and not common in the US. While Lino isn't that common either, but it's more common. Was just at the bar with a Hispanic friend of mine last night that has the name Lino

reply

Yes, this is pretty much a remake of District B-13 2. But, the District B movies were mostly foreign release. I like that Belle is getting some broader recognition.
