Why did they write the story as if Wolverine is indestructable?

His healing factor and adamantium certainly make him incredibly hard to kill, but not impossible, yet Logan acts as if he will never be able to die, even though he knows how.

Rogue taking his powers almost killed him and there's also a cure which although not permanent, he could just take a a steady daily intake and either age and die naturally or cut his wrists, stab himself repeatedly and slut his throat and bleed out.

I'm no doctor, but I'd think he could die from blood poisoning from all that metal in his body as well.

He could also drown himself. Without a pill or Rogue.

Why do you think he acts as though he will never be able to die? That was not my impression and the only time I've seen people express a similar sentiment was when arguing that he was suicidal, which he was not.

The revelation that he was not was what spurred the movie's conflict; Yashida thought that because Wolverine was living a lonely life away from civilization he must not want to live and therefore he would be doing Wolverine a favor by taking his "immortality" from him. In the past, I think people have taken Yashida's impression of the situation and mistakenly transposed it onto Wolverine. However, although Wolverine didn't look positively at his longevity, he wasn't trying to escape it. He was trying to escape the world and the pain of loss that came with being involved in it, while simultaneously trying to punish himself for what he perceived as his past mistakes.

At no point did he express a desire to die and he showed his disinterest in that scenario by promptly turning down Yashida's offer.
