This movie was an excuse to have Wolverine fight ninjas...

and I thought it was awesome.

Knowing little about whatever comics may have inspired it, though I grew up on the first three X-men movies, I imagine the pitch meeting for the movie went like this:

"We need to make some money for the studio. Like, something cool but with a character people already love."
"Sir, superhero movies are all the rage right now."
"You're onto something there, Jenkins. What superhero is popular but not in the Avengers or the Justice League?"
"What about Wolverine? A lot of people like Hugh Jackman."
"Perfect! Now we need a plot. Something really cool. Pretend you're 10 years old."
"He... goes to Japan and fights a bunch of ninjas and a samurai cyborg! And there's a mutant snake lady too!"
"Excellent! Call Jackman and begin production immediately!"

There is no objective reality... and that's Sucker Punch
