Badass and epic

Can't wait for Woverine 3 hope it turns out as good.

its not really that badass, you just think it is because its less pg13 then any of the previous x-men movies, watch 'injustice flash paradox'a Dc animated movie, and wonder woman kills a child in that, they would never have the guts to do that in live action for marvel

also i'm sure they've milked as much of this as possible, i doubt they'd make a wolverine 3, or maybe i'm wrong, maybe they'd do it to milk more cash from idiots, people will watch anything these days, eg. MARVELS 'antman' is proof. As long its marvel and there's fake CGI effects you'd throw cash at it

the story is stupid, predicable, old men goes through some MASSIVE plot just to get wolverine "X-FACTOR", from good to evil? not a believable plot to the story. Ethnic woman can't help throw themselves to the white man, thats original. Mariko kills her grand father for NO reason and without a sense of mercy, yeah that made alot of sense, especially since he loved her enough to give him the entire empire. "ooooh the whiteman is so charasmatic that i'll kill my grand father without talking to him". FYI if he had wolverines healing factor wouldn't the wound do sh*t? The movie tanked

p.s WOLVERINE: "YOU TRIED TO KILL YOUR DAUGHTER, LIVE WITH IT"

LOL what? marikos dad made NO attempt to kill her, not even at the beginning of the film, the yakuza could of killed her ANYTIME. Even when she was taken she never got killed. Wolverine was a coward, he murdered him, pretty tough fighting a person when you can't die. All he had to do was knock him out and call the cops, but hey not the first time this happens in films, lets teach kids that the only way to win is to murder the enemy

reply

i doubt they'd make a wolverine 3

It's already been greenlit. Hugh Jackman is signed on (he is saying it will be his last film) and everything. Filming will begin next year and it will be released in 2017.

Well, yes, when she was taken she wasn't killed, but that wasn't because Shingen didn't intend to kill her; it was because Harada and his men showed up to save her. Here's the conversation between them:

Mariko: If you kill me you will lose what little honor you have left.
Shingen: Fear not Mariko. I don't want to help you. I want to help you. Help you end your pain... what that mutant stopped you from doing last week.
Mariko: I never wanted to die, Father.

I don't know what you call saying he wanted to help her finish committing suicide while forcefully trying to lead her to the ledge that Wolverine previously stopped her from jumping from, but I call that attempting to commit a murder.

As for the Yakuza; yes, clearly they weren't trying to kill her publicly. For whatever reason they were trying to capture her and then kill her later. The Minister of Justice confirmed Wolverine's suspicion that they intended to kill her and ratted out Shingen as the person behind it all:

Noburo: Shingen promised he a fortune for his help.
Wolverine: So you put a hit on his daughter? Is that it?
Noburo: Political careers don't last forever.

Then we saw exactly what happened when they successfully captured her (see above). Had they been given orders to kill Mariko outright, Wolverine wouldn't have had the opportunity to save her from them. However, they didn't plan for Wolverine getting involved and although they never revealed the reason why they were planning a capture and kill the most likely scenario is that they wanted to make it look like a botched ransom attempt. When that didn't work out and they ended up capturing her covertly, Shingen decided to make it look like a suicide.

If she is just killed outright, it raises more questions. Why would the Yakuza want to kill her? Either it was revenge based, which raises the question of what motive the Yakuza had for revenge, or it was a hit, which raises the question of who exactly ordered the hit (something that Shingen didn't want people asking once the will came out and it was revealed that he was disinherited).

In the case of a botched ransom, sure, the timing is coincidental, but the Yakuza trying to ransom a rich businessman's heir makes sense and doesn't raise the additional red flag that a public murder does. A suicide is more suspicious, but if he was planning to spend a week in front of the cameras gaining sympathy for himself while begging for his daughter to return, the time for that was up. The reading of the will was three days away and Wolverine was still out there as a known problem, so having it look like a suicide probably seemed like the best option at that point in time.

All he had to do was knock him out and call the cops

You wanted him to call the police on the guy who had the Minister of Justice in his pocket and the officers helping him track down Mariko at his beck and call? I'm sure that would have worked out nicely. And, please remind me; what evidence did he, a foreigner, have to accuse a respected business man of a murder plot that would have gotten him locked up straight away even if there wasn't corruption at play?

what's wrong with murder pussy?

Methinks the man doth quote DC too fast. Going "dark" doesn't mean going "mature" as Man of Steel and Batman v Superman how showcased.

Because Ant-man was a well-made superhero/heist film that stars an ex-con trying to reconnect with his daughter, estranged wife, and her new husband. One of the sub-plots is that this country has a chronic problem with not hiring ex-cons, which then turns them back to crime to support their family.
not a believable plot to the story. Ethnic woman can't help throw themselves to the white man, thats original.
I guess you just randomly grabbed whatever assumptions people would have only looking at the trailer and the IMDb cast sheet. Mariko had no interest in Logan, until they began naturally bonding and getting away from the hit squads sent after her. The only reason Logan decided to stay was because her promised Yashida to protect his granddaughter as a dying man's last request (which was a set-up for later since he knew Logan would be an honorable man). Yukio also isn't interested in Logan romantically or sexually, despite what Shingen says in his delirious state.
Mariko kills her grand father for NO reason and without a sense of mercy, yeah that made alot of sense, especially since he loved her enough to give him the entire empire.
Her grandfather had gone so insane with the prospect of power, he sent the Yakuza after her for a kidnapping job and nearly killed Logan just for his immortality since he thought Logan was wasting it.

YES, he did. Shingen was mad that Yashida has passed over his own son he was grooming and spent years together with to give the company to Mariko for seemingly no reason. He conspired with Noboru to have Mariko killed. That's one of the biggest plot points. How did you miss that?

Minor correction: Her father was the one who sent the Yakuza after Mariko as part of his power grab. Her grandfather, through Viper, had Harada and his ninjas looking for her to save her from the Yakuza. They ultimately did so and took her with them both for her own safety and to lure Wolverine to them because of the part you mentioned about wanting Wolverine's "immortality" and he justified taking it by force by convincing himself that Wolverine was wasting it.

I hope wolverine 3 is a hardcore R with all the blood, guts, and extreme gore UNLEASHED, we all want the REAL wolverine and we wanna see him slaughter people left and right, he's supposed to be a berserk animal, not a mother approved superhero, am I right?

reply

The R Rated version of the wolverine was freakin awesome, but I hope wolverine 3 cranks it up to 100 and is released as a hardcore R bordering on NC-17

reply

The only way that will happen is if these two things happen:

1. Lower budget, this was a major factor in Fox letting Deadpool go R

2. Deadpool does well in the box office

reply

40-50 mil sounds like a modest budget for wolverine 3, and I think deadpool is gonna soar and do awesome at the box office

reply

Don't forget that $20 million of whatever the budget is automatically goes to Jackman. So a $40-50 million budget Wolverine movie is essentially the same as a $20 something million budget movie where the lead can only command a modest (in comparison) sum.

reply

that doesn't sound too bad

reply

Fox would never greenlight that. It's too niche with an R rating and that low of a budget. Wolverine is the most popular X-men. His last solo outing commanded over $400 million internationally on a lower than usual budget ($120 million). Since then the X-men's profile has skyrocketed with the success of the DOFP and may continue to show growth during next year's lead up to what they will hype as Jackman's final solo Wolverine movie. So Fox is no doubt expecting all of that to translate into better sales for Wolverine 3. R rated movies can do good business, but Wolverine is not Deadpool who can only be sold to audiences under an R rating. As such, an R rating is equivalent to asking Fox to give up tens of million to hundreds of millions in potential earnings. The lower or the higher the budget, the greater that divide becomes. There's no middle ground where an R rated Wolverine movie can out earn a PG-13 one.

Not to mention that they're also giving up the profits from creating an unrated cut after the fact and selling that separately from the PG-13 cut.

Personally my favorite guy X-Man when i was a kid was Gambit, and then followed by a tie with Cyclops [Jim Lee's] and Woverine [check out Sam Keith's eye drooling]. The movie Wolverine, being friends with Rogue is definately a nod to the Gambit plotline in Jim Lee's new X-Men from the 1990's [You know the one with 5 different Cover pages]. And his charm and swagger, a lot of that is Gambit's you know since Wolverine mostly just sat in the corner and grunted unless he was flying in a violent rage. Then the whole leadership thing, that's that Cyclops from that same Jim Lee new X-Men, [I read the important Uncanny X-Men comics like Pyslocke's first cameo and appearance and Wolverine taking Jubilee to Japan, Rogue's dealing with Mystique's rotted body, and Gambit showing up all mysterious and *beep* But yeah, Cyclops was the lead in those comics and so I look at the movie Wolverine as an amalgamation [first time I've used that word] of Gambit, Cyclops, and Wolverine from the comics and I think it definately works with the context of the films. But hard R, I dunno, I liked this one but you know Jackman's getting older and part of what made Wolfie so R from the comics is that he was Short and had a Chip on his Shoulder [which you know doesn't fit with Hugh]

The third film's trailer looks to be even more awesome. Very impressive.

Yea'd I'd about agree with ya there, I lean towards 8.5 though just because it caught me off guard [I wasn't expecting much after the first solo outing, having seen this though, I went back and actually enjoyed Number 1 knowing it was going to progress into an even better movie]

The director's cut should have been the final cut. Loved this film but it hurts to see what wasn't used.
