If You Like Army of Darkness style Schlock...

Pretty sure you'll like this. Underrated just like Army was in its first run but a great time.

I wrote this film off and never bothered until I heard the Red Letter Media guys talk about it. I was surprised they liked it, but then again they appreciate b-movie horror. Anyway, watched it and have to say it was fun. The film knows what it is. It also doesn't take the subject matter seriously and thus is pretty entertaining ala Army of Darkness. I expected a sh!t fest and instead got irreverent schlock that was a blast.

I guess critics didn't get the joke though and wrote it off as another Van Helsing (poorly crafted) or Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter (took itself way too seriously). I would describe this film as a well executed/intentional ham-fest. Even has some good one-liners.

Dunno, maybe Cabin in the Woods set the bar too high for schlocky movies and cast a shadow over this one.

Well, looks like it's developed somewhat of a cult following and is now getting a sequel. I'm actually not surprised by this.

Couldn't agree more. I had also written it off until I caught it on one of the movie channels last year. It's completely ridiculous but in the best way possible. I'm a little wary towards a sequel though. They would have to capture the same tone as the first time around. For me, it was a movie that probably should have been bad but just had a very likeable vibe to it. If they can bring that same over the top, not so subtle awesomeness without it coming off as cheesy again, then I'm all for it.
