Que the rightists complaining this is "woke"

and wanting to censor it immediately because main character is a woman.

Well, I don't know about that, but so far, I'm disliking it because of the terrible story. An officer gets out of an aircraft, and doesn't put on her cover? Then, she's saluted by a Navy personnel, while still not wearing her cover? Then, she salutes a superior inside? This is all in the first 3 minutes.

Then, she strips the frame off her M17 with one hand, and stabs the baddie in the eye with it. Kinda impossible to do. I know: I own the P320, which the M17 was based off. No way it can have the slide taken off with one hand. It needs the magazine removed, then it needs to have the bullet removed from the chamber, then it needs to be racked, then it's needs the takedown lever rotated 180 degrees, then the slide needs to be moved forward while the trigger is released. You should try it. (Though, I know you think that if you get within 10 feet of a gun, it will go off all by itself and shoot a 4 year old in the face...)

Yes, I know that you'll say it's just a movie, but if it is, why make her military if they' not going to follow doctrine? Could have just as easily made her a civilian contractor that was former military, and everything would have been fine; Why have her do things that are impossible just to make her look badass? She could have grabbed a pen out of her pocket and done the same thing.

I don't care she's a female: I care that it's an incredible sloppy movie...

...and I'm about as Conservative as they come.

Navy Regulations state you don't wear a cover on a flight line. It's a FOD hazard.

Not making a comment one way or the other on firearms, but that comment did make me laugh.

Wasn't bothered by the fact that she was a woman. At least she was muscular and not skinny like other female heroes. Plus: she was quite pretty :D and she did a fairly decent job with what she had. She should be in more action movies.

But it had other woke elements that were cringe ...

reply

If anything it's not woke enough - utterly disgusting in this day and age.

reply

And the woke warriors are upset it wasn't an autistic transvestite midget in a wheelchair that was kicking everyone's ass while wearing rainbow suspenders and a MeToo pin.

Good answer đź‘Ť

I laughed way too hard at this.

I would so watch that movie! LOL

reply

My wife and I watched it last nite. Quite enjoyed it. Didn't care if the lead actor was a women only comment was that at one stage the rescue choppers were 15 minutes away and next time they were about 35 minutes away.

"at one stage the rescue choppers were 15 minutes away and next time they were about 35 minutes away."

Yeah, I caught this too. It changed three times depending on the needs of the script ... an example of the terrible writing that clearly wasn't proof read for consistency.

A blonde white woman in the military beating up dudes is supposed to be woke? The Asian guy is (for the most part) a huge pussy who can't fire an icky gun. It's all fantasy. Bruce Willis in 1988 couldn't single-handedly stop these dudes. And the terrorist dudes couldn't overtake military installations. The Top Gun sequel is an old guy bests Millennial and Gen Zers -- basically Gen-X Dad-porn. It's not more ridiculous than Odysseus and stories in the Bible.

CUE. The word is CUE. "Que" is Spanish for "what".

reply

Que?

Maybe he meant that there would be so many people lining up to complain, that he's suggesting they form a queue?

reply

I was going to argue that it would still be wrong, that "queue" as a verb is intransitive ("Everybody queue up!"), but Merriam-Webster says it can be transitive ("to arrange or form in a queue"). I've never heard it used that way. The closest I've heard is "enqueue", but that's strictly a computer science term.

The fact that you checked first before posting is impressive.

I did the same in 1986 when Aliens came out and Ripley was the main character…man was I pissed off.

NOT.

reply

Gee, that’s so not witty.

Somebody had to tell you.
