......I can't tell who is who. Especially the girls. They all look alike, and it's doesn't help that everyone is wearing the same exact outfit. I had to turn on the subtitles and try to remember the names to get them straight.
Other than that, it doesn't seem to be a bad show. I think I'll stick with it for a few episodes.

This is a well know concept in psychology. Its called racial bias. It happens to every ethnicity.
If you took 20 white men with the same hair cut and dressed in identical suits to an area where white men aren't overly common the locals would have the same issue.
Its why eye witnesses are awful if the offender is a different ethnicity to the witness.
No you're not wrong here man. I've been loving the Korean movies on Netflix, but with this one, it's hard as hell to figure out who's who. The only kids that stood out were mullet douche and red hair girl. Everyone else basically looked like clones.

shareI don't think this is a racial thing, because they were all dressed the same in Squid game, yet I had zero issue telling who was who from the beginning. These kids, especially the girls, look fucking identical.

You know, people always say this as if their race is above this issue, when it's not. When you say something like, "Man, I can't tell these Asians apart." You're basically saying, WE DON'T HAVE THAT PROBLEM. When you actually do too. There is nothing special about your observation to be honest. I hear this from Asian people as well. I had a friend who told me she can't tell the difference between Tom Cruise and Christian Bale. It gets even worse for her with black athletes and actors.

I'm not "basically" saying anything. I never said it didn't apply elsewhere with other cultures beyond Korean. I just mentioned this one specifically because I'm watching this particular show. There's a lot of cultures around the world where people can look the same.
It's not asians, just koreans especially the girls in this show.

When they all have the same skin tone, hair style and uniform and are all 'pretty', I don't think you can be blamed for some confusion.
I think people are just confusing unfamiliarity with similarity. You don't see them often, you are unfamiliar with them, and they are of a different race than you, so they look the same to you. If you are into Korean movies or actors, there is no way any of them look a like. LOL! Vice versa, an Asian person watching an American movie with a bunch of blondes will also confuse unfamiliarity with similarity. I have an Asian friend who do this all the time. And I tell her.. If you can't tell Tom Cruise from Christian Bale, that means you are not familiar with American movies and actors.
shareThis has nothing to do with familiarity. The characters in the movie are dressed identically, have similar builds, have the same color hair, are the same ages, and are all the same race. Under those conditions, literally any cast would be hard for the viewer to differentiate.
Notice how nobody is complaining that we couldn't tell the adults apart? Because they all had noticeably different features.
LOL! Yeah, if you're busy trying to tell the difference between every background extras. How are you confused with any of the main characters? People who follow, watch, are fans of Korean flicks do not get any of these main actors/actresses confused. FAMILIARITY.
Imagine a foreigner who doesn't watch Hollywood shows, and somehow catches an episode of Baywatch. They'd have the same problems telling apart all the hot blondes in the same red bathing suits. But why don't we have the same issues? Are we all of a sudden blind to their differences just because of red bathing suits? LOL! We surely know the difference between Pamela Anderson and some other blonde. Nicole Eggert, Gena Nolin, etc. We wouldn't be able to tell them apart anymore due to red swimsuits? No, we'd still know due to FAMILIARITY.
You watch shows from another culture. You have no clue who the actors are. They do not look alike, you are just UNFAMILIAR with them. Basically, what I'm saying is that it's asinine and ethnocentric to make this comment. I didn't want to put it in those terms, but there, I said it. Whenever someone has to start a sentence with "I don't mean to be.." Guess what, you're about to be.

shareYes, we are familiar with them. You even know their heights. LOL! But if you're bouncing from Mission Impossible made in 1996, then you happen to catch American Psycho in the same week. Relative same ages when they made those movies... can you see how someone who is not familiar with American actors can go... "Hmm, didn't I just see him in Mission Impossible?" I'm giving you a real world example. LOL! My Korean friend made this mistake, that's the only reason why I bring it up as an example. LOL!
shareI don't think they look alike tbh. Westerners tend to have more variety in features than Koreans. The fact that they have different skin tones, hair and eye colors and features is helpful. Bale for example has very very high cheekbones. So even if you're not familiar with these 2 actors, I don't think many will mistake them for 1 another.
Also amongst all east asians, koreans have the least variety especially amongst plastic surgery ones (since they all try to get just that 1 look). Japanese and Chinese for example have a lot of variety in their features and beauty standards. And plastic surgery is uncommon.
