I don't nessecarily think the NB finale was quite as bad as the original series ending (though it was still not very good); rather, it was the WAY they got to that ending (in particular the last 10 or so minutes) that felt very forced & rushed. There really should've been at least 2 more episodes so they could play out the dominoes falling & a possible confrontation with Batista (which they teased but didn't deliver on), and given the police chief girlfriend something more tangible to connect Dex as the BHB other than her flimsy "suspicion". I had pretty much figured out that Dex would die & it would be Harrison who kills him, but the way they built up to that was just bad. Really bad.

I think the only reason this is made is to give Dexter a "Justice served" ending. The original ending of letting him get away with it probably sent the wrong "message".
