Roz's return

Interesting to see how this will go. I have predictions. Not necessarily hopes, mind you, but predictions.

Much fuss has been made over letting Frasier find the right woman before the show ends, whenever that may be. Because it was for so long such a driving factor in the original series. I mean sure, there was plenty else going on and it was a sitcom, not a romance show, I get that, but it was always there, he went on countless dates. And he and Roz always had a slight element and a brief interlude.

Now, this new series on Paramount+. It only had ten episodes, and that's hardly enough time to establish a new romantic interest unless you do it from the beginning, but being the first season of the revival, they've been busy establishing all the other new characters. And while I have enjoyed the revival, it of course can't compare to the original run, and I wonder if it's performed well enough to warrant a second season.

So, coming back to Roz and my predictions. I think they're going to kind of use her as a safety net. After this time apart, and each having grown since the original series went off the air, maybe Frasier and Roz will see each other in a new light, and are now at places in their lives where they could be more open to pursuing each other. I don't necessarily think they'll end up together. But I bet the finale will be done in a way that if it

A) Doesn't return for another season, we can easily imagine that Frasier and Roz get together. It can't be Lilith.

or

B) Does return for another season, nothing so serious happens where they can just be "Oh yeah Roz had a nice visit and is back in Seattle now"

I watched the final episode of the season in which Roz returns last night. To be a season's last episode, it left a lot hanging in the air. It felt like there will be another episode next week. If it's not renewed, what a non-way to wrap up such an iconic TV character. I worry about its renewal chances with Paramount after the recent BBC interview with Kelsey Grammer.

I think it would be a fantastic choice for Frasier and Roz to become a couple. Roz has been the one steadfast woman in his life. The foundation of their friendship would be a great place to start a relationship. When they had their brief dalliance in the original series, that episode wrapped with clearly things left unsaid and a secret hesitation on both sides to going back to being just friends. Roz is perfect for Frasier. She's a little rougher around the edges in a good way, and that counteracts Frasier's pretentiousness a bit.

I thought Roz looked like she hadn't aged a bit. I did miss her red hair though. I also thought that some of their original magic was missing from their scenes together, but understandably so. It seemed to be something missing on Roz's side more than Frasier's.

Agree that the two should get together. They're two sides of the same coin. We should see them trying to adapt to one another. Lots of potential there.

Paramount+ doesn't have that much going for it, especially if you're not into Star Trek. This one will be an easy renewal for them.

It's that damn laugh track that ruins the show.

People on Facebook swear it's real
People on Facebook swear it's the same as the original.

It is not!

The original was layered, but NOTHING like the idiotic robotic small studio 'voice'

Roz hasn't appeared yet, but last night I was thinking about this and I still feel this way. Especially when you take into account how the landscape has changed. During the original show, each season had 20+ episodes and was generally safely picked up for next season a month before the season finale. Now, there's a much shorter run to impress, so news of a renewal is very likely to come after the season wraps. Putting it in the place of wanting an ambiguous ending because it has to act like it's on the bubble. Because even though this is enjoyable, I don't foresee it lasting 11 seasons regardless. I give it roughly 5.
