During the play....
so when the little girl is singing during the play, why does her family look as if she's doing something wrong?

I suspect that's their reaction to her being horribly off key.
sharebecause she is tone deaf and why would they give the lead to someone who can't sing?
Are you tone deaf? did you not hear how horribly off-key she was?
because she sucks!
shareAs others said, it's because she's not good at singing. She had said earlier, I believe, that she was the first female to play Peter because of her voice. So they were expecting her to be good. Then she starts singing and she's terrible. That's why they have those looks on their faces.

I hate to hear the other kid's singing if hers was the best. maybe she was the only one who fit the costume or could remember the lines?
Oh GOOD!,my dog found the chainsaw
She said at the dining table, "Because my voice is so strong."
A strong voice does not mean a good voice. Maybe the other children couldn't project their voices loudly enough. And maybe she was that forceful kind of kid who pushed her way into the role of the Easter Bunny, and the adult in charge just didn't block her and choose someone who could actually sing.
