The ending scene - Spoilers
At the very end we see Toko, the woman of the "Drives My Car" title, alone in the car with her dog. She is clearly in South Korea, while the entire film is set in Japan, where she is shown driving the famed director Kofuku everywhere in his beloved Saab 9000 during the Uncle Vanya production.
Another poster said it might have been that the movie was planned to be set in South Korea, but changed at the last minute to Japan. That explanation doesn't quite make sense to me. I wondered: first, was there an unsaid reason for her to be in Korea; second, did Kofuku give her the car because it no longer held any meaning to him; or third, is he perhaps dead, all his questions about his wife answered, and he has joined her in the Japanese version of an afterlife.
Maybe I overthink things, but all those questions ran through my mind at the end.
