what bugs me about the pond scene
I just don't understand why you'd dump a body in water that shallow. My only thought is that being closer to the sun would help speed decomposition? But still seems too risky.

They might also have wanted to humiliate his memory by not allowing a proper burial and tombstone. Maybe too, wipe the family off the map due to the bond.
