Am I the only one who thinks it looks...

... pretty sh.i.tty for a movie that was filmed with Red cameras and Zeiss lenses?

It reminded me when I was in film school and we had to film our own short films. We used DSLRs (Canon and Nikon) and we had almost no budget. It looked really ugly, so does this movie... I thought the cinematography was horrendous...

Or was it my copy of the movie? What'd you think?

Apart from that, the movie was OK I guess. There's a good lesson of life behind it, the acting is good, but everything's really depressing. I almost couldn't feel anything, it left me weird and cold, I don't really know what words would describe what I felt best. But I can say it was not the best movie I've seen in terms of scenario, directing, cinematography, acting...

But, to think that Jennifer Lawrence made it from this movie to Hunger Games is just wow. Congratulations to her for working hard and achieving her dreams, she deserves it. She put up a good performance in Winter's Bone I think imo

But yeah anyway, what'd you think of the cinematography?

Perfect.

I thought the cinematography was horrendous...

May be that was the plan, as a lot of the depicted environment is pretty awful.

i thought it had great cinematography. the handheld camera work and direction was average at best but the look was great: it had a dreary, grungy, and for lack of a better term, cold feel to it.

it was probably the highlight of the film for me

Your film school isn't somewhere out in The Caribbean, is it? You seem to be somewhat in the minority. I first it at a film festival in 2010. Within the first 60 seconds, I was quite sure that I was in for something really special. As the closing credits started to roll and the audience applauded for the better part of a minute, I realized just how correct my initial thoughts were. The cinematography had a lot to do with it, too. I would really have to think long and hard to find a flaw with this film. I simply can't praise it enough. It's one of the best I've seen in the past ten years. The list of nominations it received and awards it won is endless. It's the only Jennifer Lawrence film that I've ever seen, as none of the other projects she's been involved in are of any interest to me, except possibly American Hustle. I guess that it's just not your cup of tea.
