What the hell`?????

This is literally one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Utterly pointless.

blah blah, theyre coming for my house
wheres my dad
we aint tellin you
he was into drugs
wheres my dad
we aint tellin you
wheres my dad
we aint tellin you and we gonna beat the *beep* out of you
wheres my dad
we aint tellin you
wheres my dad
we aint tellin you
i am a policeman
why did you tell
wheres my dad
we coming to get you
hey here we are to show you where your dad is
here he is
oh and by the way leave your gun and put a bag over your head and drive out here so we can cut your dads hands off but dont you tell *beep* about where this place is (its a *beep* pond in the dark), though it would have been easier if we just cut his hands off and leave them on your doorstep
hands the hands into cops
dont tell anyone i backed down
bonds man turns up
waffles some *beep*
heres some money, dont know how you did that (no idea what happened)

apparently this is a great film where she "pieces together the truth". what truth? her dad was into meth or crack or some *beep* that was spelled out in the first minutes. No other facts were added.

The south is cold and dark and full of rednecks

what a load of bollocks

I grew up much like Ms. Lawrence. The whiff of burning wood can instantaneously trigger either remorse or gaiety.

The dismal scent of poverty and degradation palls all but a few. Those few leave.

I am impressed with Ms. Lawrence. Her sensitive portrayal of endangered youth
rings true. Her character is cautious yet wise beyond her years whilst knowing there is but death ahead. She nevertheless never buckles to necessity.

Cute summary, but where did you get that this is supposedly about piecing together the truth? She says she doesn't care about or want to know the truth. It's about a girl doing what she has to to save her house.

Actually a nice summary.

Its that man again!!

This is one of my favorite movies. Its realistic movie about poverty. Its very well done. I like Ree character a lot. She has a lot strength. She rejects drugs when its offered to her through the movie. She goes to the recruiter so she can give her brother and sister a better life. Its obvious she does everything she can to take care of her family.

I don't understand why people say this about the movie. I don't know how Winters Bone could be more obvious about the meaning of the movie. Did you not pay attention to the movie at all? Its about a girl who is trying to save her family from being kicked out of their house. She talks the people to find her dad. How is this not obvious? It has nothing to do with finding the truth about her father. She knows exactly what her dad does for a living.

I actually thought it was a really good movie and a great acting job by a very new actress at that time..Jennifer. I hated how Ree never seemed to just get to the point about needing to find her dad and why until after she was beaten half to death.

I wonder if the movie had been named something like "Evolution of a Teardrop" if some might have found it more interesting. Really the movie can be seen as being about Teardrop, and his change from being an uncaring, drug addicted, somewhat vicious brother and uncle.... to looking out for and standing up for Ree, and eventually standing up for his murdered brother (Would have been nice to put in the the movie a scene of him going at his brothers killer).

I think the complaint of the movie being boring is because it doesn't really have much of a climax, it really has more of a documentary feel to it, telling the story of Ree's struggles.

Nevertheless, I still liked it ok.
