Such a boring film

Seriously. How did Lawrence get nominated? It was a thoroughly uninspired and quite bland performance.

reply

Agreed. It was lame.

I enjoy the film, but it is slow and definitely not for everyone.

She was great. A very difficult role, and she did it brilliantly.

reply

I agree; she was great. But I also agree with the OP in that it took quite awhile for the narrative to go in any direction, other than Ree being warned by a succession of local clan identities to not search for her father (an eminently understandable course of action on her part in the circumstances IMO).

To fully get the gist of a lot of the dialogue, I found too that I probably needed to take a course in Ozark dialect 110.

Oh I couldn't disagree more. This movie
Moved me to my core. Her eyes haunted me. Bravo! I knew from this
Movie that she was very special. Those Mountain Meth makers are exactly like those portrayed. Her youthful bravery was perfect. Maybe give it a second try? :)

Yours is a scary generation.

Take heart -- my son, who isn't quite a teenager yet, thought it was terrific.

Seeing it a second time last night, I liked it even more. It's got grit, texture, great performances and intelligence. What more would a sensible moviegoer ask for?

reply

Probably didn't have enough digital effects for you.
