What?! No Franchise???

Thank goodness this adaptation wasn't the brainchild of a major Hollywood studio! Not only would we have gotten a much different film, but, given the same ending (Teardrop leaving to avenge his brother), would it be far-fetched to assume that we'd probably have gotten these sequels?:

Spring Skeletons: Tears for Teardrop
Summer Osteoblast: Ree's Revenge
Autumn's Autism: The Mother's Tale

To haters: Surely you understand that literature and pulp are two different things that demand different approaches if they are to be fully enjoyed and/or recognized for their true worth, good or bad.
Transposed to cinema: This film is literature. This should NOT be taken as a judgement re quality, but it establishes certain creative aims that become increasingly distinct from commercial goals depending on which end of the pole you're going for, be it as creator or audience.
So, properly viewed, does this film successfully tell its story?
Damn right it does!

Is the story/subject of interest to you? A "no" is perfectly valid, but this also has nothing to do with quality in any way.

And if comic books are all you read, well, this film comes from the kind of book that has only words, no pictures, which is probably why all you can offer is "boring". Have you considered that perhaps the problem isn't the film, it's at your end, and that, in light of all the positive recognition this film has garnered, maybe you're just not qualified to pass certain judgments? Time to broaden your mind? I think so.

Ignorance is bliss... 'til it posts on the Internet, then, it's annoying.

I loved this film. It was so well done, so authentic, superior acting. It's by far my favorite Jennifer Lawrence performance.

Really worth seeing.
