Seriously....
This was boring! Really boring! There was nothing! maybe the book was good but seriously...BORING! I've seen good films and this IMO does not deserve 7.5!

shareI found it boring, and here's why: I did not care about the main character. Someone could have shot her in the chest halfway through the story and I would not have cared.
shareI agree, boring. Maybe if I was I dunno more interested in, and unfamiliar with, the lives of drug addicts, criminals, poor rural people and meth crime lords I would have enjoyed this film more. I can go back to me old neighbourhood to meet similar kinda people in real life!
Also I had a wee bit of trouble understanding what some people were bloody saying, unfortunately I had no access to subtitles.
On the plus side I thought all the actors did a good job, esp Lawrence.
Being bored is a reflection on you, not the film. Do I think this was "Best Picture" material? Probably not. But I wouldn't call it "boring."
hiren_vekaria,
opinions are like aholes, everyone's got one and no one wants to smell or hear or read about your dirty ahole.
thank you for your understanding.
In the same vein, and from what I recall, Frozen River was much better than this one.
shareYes, it was very boring. And with dialogue so vague it was impossible to know what was happening, had to basically guess who everyone was and what was going on.
When the concept was given about 10 mins in I was interested but then she just went around and talked to a bunch of people who were aggressive for no reason, got beaten up and blah blah, I lost interest.
Not to mention many shots going on for far too long.
You miss every point of what movies are about. Sorry for you.
shareSo here's what you wanted...Ree gets sick of the run around, picks up her gun and shots her way through 100 rednecks to get to Thump and torture him to get the info on her dad. She then meets a hot guy & gets naked with him. She takes her family to Hollywood and wins a million dollars. The end. Sound about right?
Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball.
This is a very different kind of film. I think everyone was off-put because this was labeled as a thriller when it actually is a rich character study. Jennifer Lawrence put forth an amazing performance. I think this deserves an 8 at least because of the rich detail in the characters, the terrain, the gorgeous cinematography, and the excellent portrayal of poverty.
This is not the kind of film you watch on a Friday night to be entertained. There's a lot to learn in the images put forth, but if you're looking for two hours of straight entertainment then this film is most definitely not for you.
