It seemed too easy

Willing suspension of disbelief aside, the whole operation seemed too easy, complete with neatly resolved happy ending.

It was still enjoyable and well made, but that's my overall takeaway.

Totally agree.

Wish you had a phone and banking service that works like a dream? Perhaps we should contact ZiggerZagger?

Agreed. My wife and I enjoyed the show but it was way too easy to get Pine in the inner circle. I'm guessing the book went into more about that character. Roper mentions at the end how "Perfect" Pine appeared. There are people like that I guess so it makes it easier but if you're an International Criminal and Arms dealer like Roper you would think you would be smarter than that. Still was enjoyable. A bit like the old Bond films where Bond was basically untouchable and everything worked with little effort.

Enjoyed the series very much, mostly foe the acting, but the plot wasn't particularly well done.
Pine was taken in far too easily, things worked out far too perfectly at each turn. Poorly written plot.

That kind of unbelievable ease was a big part of the Ben Affleck minority report prequel, Paycheck... it's a fun movie, with a similar feel.

Agreed. How could someone so naive be a big time arms dealer beats me. Not even a small mob chief is so trusting!

But in this kind of movie, it always works like that, doesn't it?? Like, how many times should Bond have been killed already? Poetic license - or the movie equivalent of it!!
I don't normally enjoy this type of stuff but I found this rather enjoyable; probably had a lot to do with the two male leads...

James Bond is one kind of stuff, Le Carre is different; you read/watch Le Carre because of his realism.

reply

I don't :-)
I find none of those stories realistic

reply

Well - if you don´t see the difference, you´re lucky. You can happily enjoy even The Night Manager.

reply

Yep - I guess I'm just not as enlightened as you ?
