Compared to Yellowstone

I just binge-watched Yellowstone. Mainly 'cause I've lived on both coasts w/o much time in the middle. Attended Sturgis last year & fell in love with that part of the country.

But Yellowstone drives me nuts, mainly because people, especially Jamie, fall so easily to Beth's bullshit psychopathic manipulation.

1883 is far from perfect—note how in the beginning only one immigrant speaks English, next episode or two they all do—but really hasn't nothing as irritating as Jamie vs. Beth.

I just finished all 4 seasons of Yellowstone. going to start 1883 soon, just hope it has better writing and plots.

and so tired of Beth, wish they would write her off the show soon.

Hope you enjoy 1883. I think you will. In addition to the pioneers' sudden command of English, there's an issue raised in the prologue that leaves one to wonder if or how they'll resolve it by the end of the season. There were, of course, a few scenes with pioneer Dutton & part of his family in Yellowstone after they arrived. We don't see Elsa, however. So it's possible she's not intended to make it all the way. If you've seen the first episode you'll know what I mean.

They did a bad job of hiding that English thing lol. Second episode my wife says "Wait - so they all speak English now?" when they blatantly said only the leader did initially.

The immigrants also worked out how to use guns pretty quickly yet we never saw them training with them.

I don't buy Elsa as some kind of Rodeo Barbie either. Nor do I buy that her parents would give her so much freedom with men.
