Mac Runs towards the Plane?

With his MacGyver super speed??

Near the end they have to catch his ex-girlfriend on the plane. Jack Dalton drove them to the airport in that red van. MacGyver dashes to the plane which is a good distance away taking off.

Why did Mac run towards it instead of Jack driving him closer like they usually do in movies?

Mac is supposed to be very smart always using his head to figure out a solution to any problem. He could have at least commandeered the van from his best friend and drive himself closer to the plane.

lol. I said the same thing. drive, drive, drive. goodness he must run fast. bionic man maybe?

The plane was on the apron, not even a taxiway. Now the "taxiway" is really just a well deliniated strip of pavement but the speed limit is generally "how slow can you go?"

OTOH it's procedure to pull the gear pretty much as soon as you clear the fence.

OTOOH it takes about three minutes to put an ATC hold and no pilot who's ever planning on flying again would roll out.

I thought that was hilarious. Then they cut the scene and he's pulling himself up into the landing gear AS THE PLANE IS TAKING OFF.

Just how fast did he have to run to accomplish that?

But then who would pilot the vehicle and keep it going in the required direction to enable him jumping onto the landing gear from a moving vehicle?

Well I guess since he is MacGyver he would have finagled a solution to keep the vehicle at speed and in the proper direction. But we've seen that so many times before in other media examples.
