No chemistry

Not sure if it's the actors, the script, or both but the actors have no chemistry or charisma. I can't remember the last time I couldn't bring myself to root for the protagonists. If things don't change drastically, this series isn't long for this world.

MacGyver's hacks are underwhelming and ex-girlfriend Nikki escaping from a moving vehicle and the agents assigned to transport her just keep driving? Are they setting her up to be some sort of recurring villain/arch-nemesis? Good thing this will be canceled before they get a chance to bring her back. I really wanted to like this... 😖

If you really wanted to like it then why are you rooting for it to fail?

The sooner it dies, the sooner the stink will dissipate into the wind and a new one can arise.

As I've cited before - what happened to MacGyver is the same thing which was done to Rollerball and The Flight of the Phoenix - and is due to happen to Soylent Green any day...there are plenty of other examples where reboots were entrusted to someone who had no business redoing it.

I have no qualms about remaking movies, even with plot changes, but have an allergy to a word which seems to describe most of these efforts.

I guessed "Angus" in '85. This time, the secret is [this] MacGyver's middle name, and the answer is:

Schlock

Not being able to root for the characters is not the same as rooting for it to fail. Having watched the original series, I (along with many others) was curious and nostalgic. Could they have done better with different actors and a bigger budget? Maybe, but we'll never know.
