Director Webber. Hetty Lange 2.0?

So they're already setting up this new character (the director of the Phoenix Foundation) as a Hetty clone: all-knowing and almost mystical and legendary in her prowess.

Bleah. It's getting to be very boring.

There's a character named Matt Webber in the episode "Early Retirement" (season 3?) of the old series. He was basically responsible for an explosion in a project of Pete Thornton's that sent Pete into early retirement. MacGyver figured it out and all went back to normal by the end of the episode. Fast forward to this "MacGyver" and we now have Nikki, Thornton, and Matty Webber involved in this "traitor" storyline and executive producer Peter Lenkov saying that they hope to have Thornton back "soon".

I wouldn't be surprised if this season long arc is nothing more than an up to date version of that old storyline. Because except for Jack when a character from the old series is used the character traits are very similar between the 2 shows.

I disagree. I think she is good&has potential to be intresting, much more than Thorton ever was. But that being said, nope, not Hetty. Sorry but as much as I like this one better than Thorton, she is nowhere near Hetty, Hetty is waaaay better original character, NCIS LA is actually very good show - Macgyver 2016 at this point is not at the same level (it got better last 2-3 episodes but not NCIS level) and they didnt show at all how much power she has, they only said few things, but they still need to show this on screen. Also Hetty has established spy relationships outside U.S we saw in many episodes, funny/creepy habits like always standing behind u, or being on the location first, loving very fast driving in luxury cars or even drinking her immortal tea - all these things make character and Hetty is much more charismatic and meaty character than Maddie, also thanks to absolutely great actress - Linda Hunt. It's only the begining for Maddie, but even with better writing I doubt she will reach Hetty status.

Don't care. She's Meredith Eaton, therefore awesome.

Agreed- love Meredith and love her as the captain of the Phoenix ship. I'm seeing a lot of people comparing her to Heady from NCIS LA. Is it because they're both small women and heads of agency? In any case - love this new change and dying to find out what happened between her and Jack !!!!

The "new character" was kind of fun for a couple of episodes, but they've already managed to defang her (see last night's episode).
