With out a doubt the most ridiculous part was

When the bad guys had Liam Neeson and his wife at gun point in the alley, and Liam Neeson pulls his fcking phone out and calls his daughter and explains the situation. Ok why in the hell would the bad guys just stand there and let him make a call? I mean ffs he just casually pulls his phone out and the bad guys do nothing, they just stand there as if he's using an invisible cell phone.

He could have fcking called the us embassy and told them to they're being kidnapped, cause the bad guys sure as hell had no problem with letting him make a phone call. I mean hell why not have them say "Put that fcking phone down, or I'll blow your wife's head off! put it down now!" but nope.... They just stand there and allow him to make his call. Did they not think he could be calling the cops?

That was just one of the most stupidest moments in action film history. It was almost like they allowed him 1 phone call before he was taken. And Liam Neeson doesn't even flinch when pulling the phone out, he just casually grabs it like "Whelp let me call my kid and tell her whats going on before we go, i'll just be a minute".

Bane-89 what you said is sooooo funny and so true. Too bad Mystery Science Theater isn't still on, they would have had a field day with some of the scenes from this movie.

Well, it was a Mexican Standoff. Mills had a gun on one of them, and the bad guys had instructions not to kill him, so they had to wait for him to surrender.

The rules of the Mexican Standoff are hazy, but I believe light conversation is permitted, as is intense staring and emotional flashbacks. Phone calls are probably stretching the rules a little but the Albanians let it slide.

^^This, pretty much. I, too wondered why they just let him make a call.

Good points by OP and the others. I think the main point is it was done for drama purpose so Bryan can say to his daughter that they are being "taken."

I loved it when he kept telling the daughter throughout the movie that the mother was "fine" and "safe" as the mother is being dragged off by the bad guys, tied up and tortured.

reply

for me the worst part is when he ask her if she can shoot and she says no

i was shocked, in that situation after what happened in the first movie and how worried he is about his daughter, wouldn't he teach her how to shoot every type of fire arms known to mankind? every kind of mixed martial arts self defense mambo jambo ever invented?

Wouldn't made much more believable if he trained her almost like a Cia Agent?

reply

No, it wouldn't. Because she is a soft American girl.

It does not make sense at all. It would be one thing if she was depicted as some sort of hardcore daughter who wants to follow in her father's footsteps. But she is depicted in Taken as being a soft American girl.

How suitable for advanced combat training do you think she is?

reply

At least he didn't text it all to her.

I was thinking that the whole time and it was so drawn out to the point I had to stop watching. The whole movie just kept getting worse from there too.
