Anyone Else Think Wyatt Oleff (Stan) Was the Weak Link in the Cast?

I'm not sure if it was because the quality of the child acting was unusually high here and as a result he stuck out like a sore thumb, or if he's just a below average performer, but every time he spoke I wished they'd cast someone else in the role.

Don't be stupid, all the child actors were GREAT. No exceptions.

Actually in the book, he was kind of the weak link in the group and takes himself out of the equation early on in Part 2. I thought the kid who portrayed him did a good job capturing the character. Stan didn't want any part of fighting the entity known as "IT" and he resisted until he didn't have a choice.

reply

no i didn’t. he nailed the character from the book, spot on.

The whole young cast was spot on. I think Sophia (Beverly), Jack Dylan (Eddie) and Jaeden (Bill) were unequivocally the stand outs, although I thought Wyatt nailed the part of Stanley. Yes, he seemed a bit more “restrained” compared to the other kids but that worked for his performance and character.

The character previously wasn’t one of my favorites from The Losers Club, but I really appreciated him here.

reply

That's just how the character is in the story.

reply

The thought the cast did a fine job, including all the youngsters.

reply

Not really, because none of the characters were well written, some were just given more screen time. For example, when Mike was on screen he was good, but what the hell was his story? He loves sheep? I thought the actor who played did fine given that the writing was bad.
