He's afraid of the Scream painting? This was the weakest fear in the movie. He should've been afraid of werewolves. I was afraid of werewolves as a kid in the '80s. The Thriller video freaked me out big time. Or make him afraid of Nazis to fit the theme.

I was a kid in the 80's I remember there was a painting of a old baroness on my uncle house, it wasn't scary in a particular way but was defiantly eerie and make me sheever if I long time. No my deeper fear but I can see how a young impressionable kid could be scared of a painting that has a horrible woman.
It wasn't the Scream painting, it was what I can only describe as the Warped Woman, and I found it very effectively creepy, next to Eddie's Leper.

I thought his fear was good. I've been creeped out by paintings before. Plus that was his dad's office and he'd been in there a lot I'm sure. Ever feel like a painting is watching you. Common kid fear. My grandma's Jesus pictures scared me. My parents weren't very religious so seeing a man on the cross bleeding scared me.
