A couple of things I don't understand:
1. What connection did Taylor (maze guy) play in this? We know that he took Anna's sock and put it in the trunk, but for what purpose?
2. What role did Taylor's mazes play?
3. What's the deal with the snakes?
Taylor was kidnapped by the married couple as a kid but managed to escape. The drugs/trauma obviously messed him up like they did with Alex, and he was obsessed with the killers for the rest of his life. The mazes and snakes were things he experienced while he was kidnapped.
