I somehow liked it he first time I watched it back in 2017 on Blu-ray. Maybe I was distracted by Harley Quinn and the soundtrack. Years went by and I still believed the critics were wrong. Then I watched it sometime last year, along with all of the DCEU as part of a long overdue revisit/reevaluation. I paid more attention to it and realized there's barely a plot! It's dull, it's swamp green, Jared Leto's Joker was worse than I remembered.
The film's strongest/er assets are Harley Quinn and the soundtrack, to be honest. Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) on her own was pretty good. Will Smith was respectable.
Almost all of the DCEU films I ended up changing my opinion on upon revisiting, with the exception of Wonder Woman. That was the rare good one. It's a miracle that Zack Snyder's Justice League is the masterpiece it is... maybe because he had more time to work on it.
The post-Wonder Woman films are infinitely better than this, with the obvious exception of Joss Whedon's theatrical cut of Justice League. The more recent The Suicide Squad is light years better than its predecessor, as is Birds of Prey.
