All of the characters are insufferable.

I'm sure I'm not the target demographic since I'm a middle-aged man, but my wife started watching this show recently. I've never really watched the original Sex and the City but have probably seen a small handful of episodes over the years so was aware that Kim Cattrall was not present (which is unfortunate since I like Big Trouble in Little China).

Anyway, after a few episodes it seems that every character is insufferable. It's not just that they're crappy people but they aren't even interesting to watch. It seems like not a single character is likable or interesting. I can normally slog through some of the shows that my wife wants to watch but I should get a medal for this one. I'm sure the original show was popular, but were the characters always this bad or is it just bad writing for the new series? It seems that Kim Cattrall didn't like the planned trajectory for her character so I assume it must be the latter?
