Has none of the wit - or grit - of the original. The original had a NY feel to it; this is nickelodeon all the way. Rouch, who was so good in that nerd show, is dreadful here - just smiling and playing cute the whole time. Makes Harry Anderson look like Olivier by comparison. The rest of the cast ranges from obnoxious to bland. Even Laroquette is sleep-walking through this tripe.
The thing that I hate is how whenever they have these reboots, they don't cast veteran TV actors but instead "fresh faces" who come across as complete amateurs oh, so excited over having gotten their first acting gig. The casting choice doesn't make sense, either. Most fans of Night Court are middle aged and older, and why on earth would we want to see a reboot stocked with twenty and thirty year olds who can't even come close to capturing humor from before their time?
This show is a horrible disgrace. Sure it's still Dan (sort of) but the writing is terrible, the acting is terrible, the
laugh track is terrible. Part of the problem is you can't write edgy jokes in today's TV world and so it's hard to be funny
when you are handcuffed and censored. Melissa Rauch can't carry a show.
While it wasn't a bad idea, you can't just put stereotypes into a cookie cutter set/ TV format and have it work.
You need real writing and real actors. This show is like a bad high school play.
These are the same people on strike demanding more money and more writers on staff. They're terrible and lucky to have jobs in the first place. All's they do is take someone's ideas and ruin them because they're talentless hacks who have more focus on making woke jokes then actually being funny. The Obama era of divisiveness and identity politics is over. Fatigue has set in and these morons either don't realize it or have nothing else to offer.
