Densi in perspective

Hallelujah!! 😇 Based on the first 3 episodes, Gemmill and company seem to be putting Densi in perspective: a relationship of TWO characters (who aren't the main characters--sorry Densi fans) in a team of EIGHT. It's GREAT to get a break from this (😴) couple. THANKS to the team at CBS for getting back to basics--Callen and Sam--and for giving the other cast members--Nell and Eric and Granger--more opportunities to shine. And, of course, Hetty is the ❤ and soul of the team--as she should be!! Great start, everyone!! Drama, action, humor! 👏

And, of course, Hetty is at the head of the team--as she should be!!

just a little correction on that...Hetty is not really the head of the team, in terms of rank, Granger still outranks Hetty in the office because he is the Assistant director of NCIS. But the thing is that Hetty doesn't always listen to Granger's orders, more often than not she even outright disobeys him LOL...and occasionally he would even let Hetty take the lead on a case. But yeah, at the end of the day Granger still outranks everyone at the LA office.

Btw I'm glad that Densi will finally take a backseat for a while...we needed a break from this annoying duo.

reply

You're right, Granger outranks Hetty, but I just don't think of him as the "head of the team," I guess. He's the boss, but Hetty's the heart and soul (so I edited my entry)! 😊

You're getting a break bc Kensi is in a coma due to the actresses pregnancy. No other way around it. I love Densi. I think they're precious. Looking fwd to when Kensi wakes up.

reply

As long as it keeps Deeks a little under control--I'm not sure anything could make him less annoying--I hope she stays in a coma for weeks. :-) I LIKE Kensi; can't abide Densi or Deeks.

reply

Densi is the most boring couple on ANY TV show, so I'm glad they're less an item as Season 8 starts. Maybe when Kensi wakes up she won't even remember Deeks--or better yet, won't like him. That would make them more interesting!

reply

Really?? I think they have a considerable amount of chemistry and have a lot of great relationship building scenes so it feels earned. I can think of so many more boring couples in tv history:

Zoe and Joel - Hart of Dixie
Alaric and Meredith - The Vampire Diaries
Daisy and Lincoln - Agents of Shield
Rachel and Joey - Friends
Joey and Dawson - Dawson's Creek
Violet and Pete - Private Practice
Izzie and George - Grey's Anatomy
Jackie and Fez - That 70'S Show
Robin and Ted - HIMYM

Densi have great platonic chemistry, but NOT romantic or sexual chemistry, at least not to me and to many other people...they were great together when they were just partners and good friends because they had good platonic chemistry together. But as a couple, they just do not work and are not believable to me because of their lack of romantic chemistry...Densi together just looks like 2 siblings or 2 good friends trying to act "romantic" with each other, it's so awkward to watch and seems very forced and not convincing to me at all.

From my perspective, Daniela Ruah and Eric Olsen just look like they are forcing themselves to read their lines and act "intimate" with each other for the sake of it, but they don't really look comfortable with each other acting those scenes IMO, they just seem very awkward as a couple.

Densi were simply forced together just to please all those Densi shippers.

reply

See to me Eric and Nell are the ones who have no chemistry. I get such a sibling vibe from them.

reply

When did I compare Densi with Eric and Nell here?

I think Eric & Nell have very good chemistry, but again it's also a more platonic chemistry, I also think they have a sort of sibling vibe, but I don't mind them as a couple much either because they don't constantly harp on their relationship unlike Densi does.
But whatever I feel about Eric & Nell does not change my opinions about Densi, I still think Densi have no romantic chemistry at all and are too much like siblings or just good friends, they are just not convincing to me as a couple...and they constantly harp and ramble on about their relationship when they're working which is so annoying for me to watch.

reply

I never said you were comparing them. You mentioned a sibling type relationship with Densi and I was just mentioning that's how I saw Eric and Nell

reply

The main reason I find Densi so annoying is because Deeks is so annoying. Kensi was WAY better before he entered the picture and demanded ALL her time and attention. He wants everyone to focus on Deeks--especially Kensi. Give a girl some breathing room, dude! He's a douche.

reply

Amen to that! His constant need to be the center of attention--and his stupid one-liners and "jokes" (such as demanding Nell say, "Special delivery" -- just lame) are what make him an annoying 12 year old. Kensi, girl, you deserve a MAN! :-)

reply

Agree 100%! Densi are two friends putting on a romantic act. Kensi has more sparks when she's undercover with Callen. :-)

reply

agree with you on that, I also think Kensi has more sexual chemistry with Callen whenever they were working undercover than all of the Densi scenes put together lol.

reply

Kensi de-evolved so much since couple of early seasons. She was a strong and decisive woman. Quite a badass too. But since her relationship with Deeks started, she became more like Deeks' sidekick just another girl in town. For now even Nell is stronger than her. I really hope, that production team will change this. I'm just re-watching season one and while it has it's humor it's still really tough stuff. Much different than comedic and somewhat hopeless season 7.

reply

Agree! Season 7 had horrible episodes--mainly because the writers had to dumb down the other characters to make them as stupid as Deeks. And you're so right about Kensi. She used to be bad ass, but now she's just a whiny ninny sidekick to that moron she calls her boyfriend. She deserves SO much better!! Loved it when she pulled her hand away from him--maybe, even in a coma, she's starting to realize what a huge mistake she's made shacking up with that loser.

reply

They basically turned the whole team into morons. They're super undercover unit, they maintain huuge legends covering their true identifies... Yeah, but it lasted for what, three seasons? Now they're "undercover" under their real names. Secrecy :P

reply

It was a good show when they went undercover, shot some bad guys ad kicked their asses with some comedic relief between.

reply

totally agree with you guys, Kensi used to be such a great character on her own in the past...and now she's reduced to just "Deeks' girlfriend" or "sidekick", they have just about completely ruined Kensi's character now ever since the producers decided to bow down to those obsessive Densi shippers and made Densi official on the show...they were so much better and believable when they were just good friends and working partners.

reply

I really hate Deeks since he waterboarded that Afghan guy. He crossed the line then.
