This goes for NCIS LA, and most all cop shows

If you have 2 people under arrest you NEVER put them TOGETHER in the back seat of the SAME CAR! Obviously that research wasn't done correctly.

Seen this in tons of shows over the last 40 years. Seen it happen in real life, but for a city like LA they should have enough cars to separate to suspects.

Don't remember the #, but that was one of Gibbs rule not to put 2 suspects in the same room together

Not always true. Putting suspects together in a back seat and recording what they say can yield valuable info. It's legal since there is no expectation of privacy in the back of a police car.

I'll agree TV cops do a lot of dumb stuff, but in this instance the scenario is based on something that actually happens in the real world.

True, but ONLY if the purpose is to get them to talk and provide information (like Brenda did in an episode of The Closer). If you're just transporting them, then no, you don't put them together in the backseat.
