Would this have worked?

I love Hetty to pieces (as I do the entire cast) but I was re-watching the NCIS backdoor pilots Legend Part 1 & Part 2 and in those episodes, Hetty wasn't there but Laura Macy was. I read that Laura Macy was re-cast because fans didn't care for her. (I'm in the minority; I loved both of them just fine) Do you think the show would have done better or worse if Laura Macy had stayed and Hetty had never been brought on? Why so?

reply

Probably better. Hetty manipulates too much and holds secrets

Macy's character was far more believable as a former field agent, but I think they wanted an older actress.

wasn't she Gibbs' age?

I didn't know, so I looked them all up:
Macy, played by Louise Lombard was born in 1970.
Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon was born 19 years earlier in 1951.
Hetty, played by Linda Hunt, was born in 1945. She is the oldest of them all and 25 years older than the actress that played Macy.
