The weapon was probably a Desert Eagle which is, I think, a 357 pistol (ejecting shells automatically). I also wonder how much sick/vacation time does LAPD give because my friends never get the amount Deeks has used up since getting back from Syria.

I checked the script, and he said:
What do you got? .357 Magnum. Three shell casings.
The .357 Sig uses the same caliber of bullet, but the casing is entirely different. The Sig is necked down and far shorter. It likely has a head stamp indicating caliber as well. This would have been obvious to anyone that has handled handguns- such as a trained seal.
Thanks for the link, I was unaware the DE was made in 357 magnum. I know the 357 Sig is a fairly popular caliber, especially for law enforcement.
I looked it up for cost and the DE 357 is like a $1,600 gun. I don't see a gun thug using a high-end gun like that- kind of like using a Ferrari in a convenience store robbery. A revolver would be far more likely IMO. More than likely it was a writing error though.

Poorly executed beard guy missed the bandage on the guy's head the first time. Callen didn't miss the bandage the first time--he hadn't received the photo from Beale, so there was nothing to identify that guy as the shooter. Of course, Callen should have just busted in there because the guy had a bandage on his forehead which we all know indicates that he'd just shot a guy. Callen and the NCIS team need to start acting on those "clues" faster. Maybe just murder people like Deeks--but then, he is an attorney.
All-powerful dwarfs are a key means of getting an ATF job. First, it's doubtful that Hetty's size has anything to do with the value of her recommendation. Second, if she were "all-powerful," Anna would have already been hired by ATF rather than having her application still "pending."

Disagree and unsupported after a rewatch. PEBG was the one that discovered the crankset at the shooting scene. PEBG and TTS theorized the victim used the crankset to defend himself. PEBG even theorized the prints were from the victim and the blood from the shooter. Using a metal impact weapon would usually result in some type of injury, which would result in blood transfer. This was well before PEBG was looking in the window at the auto shop.
Later in ops before they went to the auto shop, Beale explained the prints on the crankset were the victims, but the blood was not the victims. Both EBB and PEBG were present and heard this, as Beale was talking to both of them and SN.
Several scenes later, Beale tells PEBG and EBB via phone about the parking ticket, which leads them to the auto shop. In a subsequent scene, Beale and SN see via video the victim use the crankset and the head injury being inflicted. He failed to share this info with PEBG and EBB right away.
We next see PEBG and EBB at the auto shop. While EBB distracts one dude, PEBG looks in the window and the second guy he sees has a bandage on the left front of his head.
Callen and the NCIS team need to start acting on those "clues" faster.
You apparently realized in police work, that's called a clue- PEBG did not, and he's the federal agent. He then uses his secret squirrel viewer to zoom in, and comments on the number of "bogeys" and that they are making receivers for AR-15s. Despite several shots showing the bandage, PEBG makes no mention of it. Beale then sends him a photo, and that's when the light bulb goes off over PEBG's head. PEBG confirms the shooter is there.
PEBG knew or should have known the gun thug would have a fresh injury. He never made any mention of it, which was sloppy police work from someone that is supposed to be so skilled.

You've missed the entire point/humor of the oxymoron of an all-powerful dwarf. There are no such things except on this rather entertaining show and probably some science fiction shows.

Your entire argument about why Callen should have known that a bandage on the guy's forehead indicated he was the shooter is stretching it. There was no indication where on his body the assailant might have been injured, and the idea that someone working on machines NEVER sustains an injury would be debunked by OSHA. Evidently, the fact that he worked at the garage and had a bandage (and even though Callen had only two other workers in sight) was sufficient evidence for you that he was the killer which makes me wonder how you can ever criticize their warrantless searches and forced entries. Theorizing about what happened and then actually acting on it are two different things. You gripe about how often they act without evidence or probable cause and now you're griping because he didn't act when he didn't have sufficient probable cause. You can't have it both ways because then neither one is valid. Of course, it's your comment, so you can have it both ways, but that doesn't make the writing wrong; it makes your logic suspect. So, using your logic, Callen should have just killed him like Deeks did with that other guy ('cause Deeks knew he was bad).
Kensi is a 12. This being the case, then by the same scale, Anna is a 15.
oxymoron: a combination of contradictory or incongruous words (government intelligence) The phrase an all-powerful dwarf is NOT an oxymoron.
One thing I love about IMDB like the rest of the Internet, there's always an argument to be had.

First, I have a lot of fun making fun of a fun show. You seem to be the one griping here. Let's review what I wrote:
Poorly executed beard guy missed the bandage on the guy's head the first time.
Where did I suggest anyone make a warrantless search based upon the head injury? As I noted in followup, it was a clue, and clues support probable cause affidavits that are used to obtain search warrants. Knowing what he knew at the time, what he should have made mention of was the fact that one of the suspects inside the building had a fresh head injury, which would have been consistent with a defensive blow from the victim.
Next!
So, using your logic, Callen should have just killed him...
Also unsupported by my comment.
Finally:
oxymoron: a combination of contradictory or incongruous words (government intelligence) The phrase an all-powerful dwarf is NOT an oxymoron.
Agreed on government intelligence for the most part. Dwarfs are physically incapable of doing tasks for certain jobs... such as field agent work. As has been seen on the series numerous times, nearly everyone on the show is afraid of Hetty. Why? Her work experience seems to rival that of James Bond. Agencies have minimum physical requirements for those doing field work. I find the character to be just about totally unrealistic. Certainly she could be a powerful administrator, but that is not how the character has been portrayed.
It is incongruous that a dwarf would have the amount of physical power that has been attributed to Hetty. One of the more laughable scenes was when she was doing some type of fencing in the well-equipped office. As I recall, she easily defeated her larger opponent. Look up the term Mary Sue and I think her character fits that description more often than not. As an opposite example, once when she had to stop PEBG when he was "rouge" she was physically incapable of doing so after her taser failed. That's why people of her stature are not allowed to perform field work. Again, perhaps in a science fiction movie a dwarf could be magically all-powerful, but not in US law enforcement.

I still think your logic about Callen and the shooting is a stretch. I've re-watched it and there was nothing to indicate the bandage was fresh, there was nothing (prior to Beale viewing the video) to indicate where the attacker had been injured (blood from the forehead is no different than blood from any other part of your body), and no probable cause affidavit based solely on the evidence that the individual has a bandage and works in a machine shop would have been upheld--or even issued--and the fact that you're critical of Callen for not acting on this flimsiest of evidence seems like a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" standard.
Also, your assumption about power is limited. Certainly, Hetty has a reputation as a field agent, but her reputation is based more on her powers of stealth, cunning, intelligence and ability to survive than actual physical power (other than the climbing wall which also requires agility). One needs to relate Hetty's field skills less to James Bond and more to a John Le Carre character like Smiley (Hetty was Clara's "handler;" Bond could never be a "handler" for another agent). Hetty isn't flashy; she's effective.
Someone is shot on a rooftop. You can see the ocean from the rooftop, and the Navy has ships in the ocean, so call NCIS! True, it doesn't happen often, but they actually knew the victim was in the Navy before they visited the crime scene. The trained seal is cross-trained as a profiler. Don't know about that, but he is an interrogator. He wasn't profiling Carl as much as he was interrogating him, IMO. Granger fills in for Nell's dad when amorous bike store employees hit on her. Good one! As a federal agent, if you shoot and kill several gun thugs, no reports are required. Just go to lunch afterwards. If I'd shot that many gun thugs--even if I were a federal agent--I'd eat lunch before doing the paperwork 'cause you know the paperwork is gonna take forever! Eastern block Barbie does not always shoot people. Never liked Barbie but like Anna--she doesn't talk too much.
