Headquarters Part Deux

Why are the desks of the Four (Sam,Callan,Deeks, and Kensi) so small and pushed together? I understand that having an office with open architecture fosters cooperation but shouldn't our heroes get standard size government issue desks with a little breathing room? Lord knows all the mayhem and chaos they create must result in reams of paperwork. Of course if you kill all the bad guys, there is no need for arrest reports and testifying at their trials.

It's really shocking that they don't have a psychiatrist with all the people that they do shoot and kill. It makes you wonder if they're all sociopaths.

reply

Come on, people! It's a dramatic TV show! Nobody wants to watch them fill out paperwork! Seriously, get with the program! If you want to watch actual government action, turn to C-SPAN. As for seeing a psychiatrist, Sam's a former SEAL--he's killed people before; Callen's former CIA, FBI, and DEA--so he's killed people before; Kensi's a sniper--nuff said; and Deeks did actually murder a man (besides his on-duty/off-duty shootings), so maybe he's the sociopath.

Point taken. The original premise was they work undercover. Early shows had Hetty choosing the undercover wardrobe and people in the background wheeling around racks of clothing. They still occasionally do go undercover but the office is more like a regular field office ("Grab your gear dead Navy Commander" ala Gibbs). They go out flash their badges, identify themselves as NCIS, and solve cases. They really don't need the secret headquarters. Also Sam has apparently not had the pleasure of attending of a football game at the LA Coliseum (with all its amenities lol!) or else he would join Callan at home.

reply

I know I don't want to watch anyone fill out paperwork (been there, done that). 😱
As for the Coliseum--it's the crowd, not the venue itself. 🏈📣

reply

Every once in awhile they do show them doing paperwork. But do you really want to watch that? As for the desks, maybe they like it that way. It's not like they're sitting there all day, every day.

reply

And yet if they kill someone they STILL get done on time? Smh cause there is so much paperwork if you discharge your weapon. There is different agencies that also get involved. And then when DOUCHEBAG, who is also representing LAPD, kills someone he puts his gun away, doesn't call LAPD out to the scene, and he's on his way back to NCIS headquarters? That is so UNREALISTIC! At least the Kensi Deeks storyline is taking a backseat..

reply

I remember that the open space work place was evident in the beginning and resembled a College Fraternity House atmosphere per Hetty; so she gave them assigned desks and the necessary tools for " The Team " to be able to do their jobs, such as after action reports, briefs, their mail etc. I remember Callen telling Hetty after a day with the new office layout; that his Team had gotten a day's worth of work in half the time during an early Episode. I love this team program, every actor has their own responsibility to be true to the " character " they are portraying, whether it's serious as Callen, comic relief from Deeks, health conscious Sam or Kensi who had many complicated attributes.

reply

I wouldn't go that far saying comic relief--more like annoying asH ell! G and Sam are pretty funny

reply

Agree there would be tons of paperwork (but no drama in that). Also like the team with the exception of Deeks who's just too annoying and juvenile to be funny. At least he and Kensi aren't hogging the scenes the way they did in season 7.
