Headquarters

We see Sam and Callen pull up to the front door and park, then walk right in.How do they rate this privilege over Hetty and Granger? Where does everybody park? Is there no security? Try and get into any federal office (or any government building for that matter) without going through a metal detector.

reply

Honestly they've never shown a parking lot except that spot.

reply

No vehicle has been allowed next to the entrance of any federal building since the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.

reply

Least the old base was underground and had a parking garage next door

Always wondered why they changed the setting from a warehouse area to a condemned building. If that is the closest space shouldn't it be a handicapped space?

reply

It's a TV show not a documentary. The headquarters isn't a public building; no unauthorized people are going to enter unless they sneak in (and they wouldn't go through a metal detector). There are no "parking" spaces because the building isn't supposed to be occupied (that's why there are "condemned" signs posted all over it's exterior).

Reminds me of another TV show from way back "The Man From UNCLE" where the entrance to the agency was a tailor shop. One of the agents from that show bears an uncanny resemblance to the NCIS Medical Examiner.

I love Ducky (and he was downright dashing as Illya!)! Talking about "secret" entrances, how about Get Smart? Wasn't it a phone booth?

reply

Not many people are supposed to know about where they are located. It's not like the mothership, who is located in a federal building. We don't really know about their security, they could have it all over the place-we just don't see it.

reply

I've just always assumed the place was behind a gated surrounding to begin with. In that case, they would have gotten in because of a pass at the gate. As for their parking there, could be that they just pull in there when they know they are leaving soon rather than being in the office all day anyway.

I've seen some state-of-the-art Federal buildings and some that needed to be condemned, but this set is one of the least believable aspects of the series.

reply

Maybe, but it represents California Spanish-Mission style, and it does a good job. The courtyard is awesome (I'd like one of those). The boat shed is another great place (I'll take that since I can't have the courtyard). 👍
