Watched the scene between Kensi and Ferris again. Doesn't make sense. The NCIS LA team has only been in Afghanistan 3x that I can remember: in Recruit, Spoils of War, and Belly of the Beast. In none of these did they take actions where Kensi would have shot Ferris. Doesn' make sense.
Kensi did work with a team of people when over there that weren't Callen, Deeks or Sam. So when Sullivan said 'team' I took it to mean that he was referring to people other than her NCIS team. Granger was over there with her so he could have put together a 'team'.
Even if that was the case, it still doesn't make sense to go after the entire NCIS team. There's no indication in ANY of the previous episodes that the NCIS LA team actions over there disrupted anything--and you know they would have heard SOMETHING in the intelligence grapevine, especially if the CIA's work was as important as Ferris said it was.

Wasn't it the CIA that wanted the "White Ghost"/Kensi's ex-boyfriend taken out? And Hetty sent Kensi, since she knew that the guy was being set up and that Kensi could never pull the trigger on him?

Yea, but there was no indication that "saving" Jack disrupted anything the CIA was doing with the tribal leaders in the area--and there was no indication that this made the region any less safe.
