Love the movie but soo many plot holes.

My question is this, shooting a person in the dream wouldn't wake them up because of the sedation but the kick supposebly does wake them up. What happens after they finish the mission and wake up on the 1st level of the dream inside the Van. Did they wait in the city for a week for the time to run out to wake up and how did they eventually wake up?

Yes, they waited in the city level for a week until the sedative wore off. Without the sedative, they don't need a kick.

Even if they use a kick to wake up, it needed to be synchronous kicks in both levels. There has to be a kick in the layer above them which is synchronous with the one in the layer they are in. For instance, Eames activated the defibrillator three times. Fischer did not wake up until he was pushed off the building which was synchronized with the third defibrillator activation. To wake up from the first level, the van would need to be synchronized with a fall in the plane.

The rumor is that Nolan planned to have one of the dreamers flutter their eyelids to signal a wake up to the flight attendant. However, he did not develop this because he did not want to waste time in the movie with it.

In my opinion this movie doesn't hold up very well and becomes tedious because of that. It is a basic 7 of 10 kind of film.
