Relationship between Michael Caine's character & Cobb?

I just caught this - when Cobb says "My kids - your grandchildren..." which means Michael Caine's character is Mal's father.

So depending on how much Cobb has told him (and how much he believed) then to him Cobb is either:

a) The guy who killed his daughter, or
b) The guy who *beep* up her head so much that she killed herself

Either way, it seems a bit odd that he's so easygoing with Cobb.

Miles taught both Cobb & Mal how to conduct shared dreaming. He understood the risks involved in dreamsharing and had the ability to understand the extenuating circumstances behind her death. It also means that he bears some of the blame.

The difference is that Miles can place that guilt in proper perspective. It does not destroy him the way it is destroying Cobb. He is more like an automotive engineer who has a family member die in a car crash.

The grandmother blames both of them for her daughter's death. Hence the estrangement from her husband.

I think they were gay lovers. But I'm not 100% sure. I haven't watched this movie in a while.

Clearly he doesn't think Cobb is a murderer or he wouldn't help him...
