Jenkins walks after Gunn gives her notes to fix WW3

Gunn tried to mansplain how to improve, she persisted and chose to stay stuck on stupid.

"Wonder Woman 3 According to those in the know, it was Patty Jenkins who walked away after receiving notes on the treatment she submitted to the studio. Apparently her threequel pitch had character arc problems which rivaled that of Wonder Woman 1984, which despite being impacted at the box office for the worst by closed NYC and LA theaters during Covid and a studio HBO Max day-and-date plan, was panned by critics at 58% Rotten and not a rave with fans with a B+ Cinemascore despite the first one getting an A. One rival studio executive observed the potential problem in the current DC set-up of having a filmmaker like Gunn providing notes to an established filmmaker like Jenkins, however, we hear that Warner Bros. Motion Picture chiefs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy had concerns about the treatment before Safran and Gunn weighed in. The group provided notes. Jenkins fought back and defended her vision that the threequel’s character arcs were solid. Jenkins was given the opportunity for another pass, but opted to walk."

I just don't get it?

The hubris to think that after nearly ruining the character in a much derided sequel, to keep moving in the same direction would be a good idea?

Hopefully DC doesn't turn the reins over to someone like Gunn... but then again, in today's woke-infested society, I have no idea how to go about doing a worthwhile Wonder Woman threequal that isn't drizzling dog poop.

Hollywood wokesters like Jenkins are learning disabled and always double down on failure.

reply

It's not their failure.
It's the viewer's fault.

Tonight's lead-in topic: New details have come to light ahead of James Gunn's upcoming meeting with Warner Bros head David Zaslav, including reports that Wonder Woman 3 has been scrapped and that Jason Mamoa may not be continuing as Aquaman past Aqauman 2, but instead might be cast as Lobo. Is Gunn working on completely resetting the board for a complete, eventual reboot?

reply

Let her walk.

Bottom line movies have to make money. If she's not on board with that, fuck her. It's a business with a lot of money at stake.

reply

Good for her but even better for WW3.

Hopefully they get a competent writer/director.

No surprise to me this was scuttled. I remember reading after the poor reception of 2 that they were gonna double down on this direction.

As much as i'm sad to see the Snyderverse put down like the sick dog it is, I like everything Gunn's had to say so far. For the first time since this circus started, it sounds like somebody has a cohesive vision for how to put the DC universe to screen. Even though certain indivdual components of what exists works in their own right, you have to sweep the board clean and start over.
