got so much more on third viewing with Blu Ray

I finally got a blue ray player and I was not going to get the DVD version of the movie because it had no extras. Very disapointed to say the Blue ray does not have any commentary tracks, Why not???

The movie however holds up nicely and I got it so much better on third viewing. I did like watching the 6 little featurettes after the movie was over. Now when I watch the blu ray for the next time, I will look for some of the nuansences that I missed on my own and picked up from the discussions of the directors.

For god sakes, make a version with a commentary track or two!

some questions for fans of the movie:

Why do Frobisher and Sixsmith break the dishes in the final moments of the movie? I imagine it is something existential to do with them being connected throughout time but I was hoping for some better explanations than my poor guess work.

Why does the credits list two different Somni's? Somni 451 and Somni 351? I think those are the numbers. Did the actress play a second Somni in the video ?

I am going to read the book soon and wonder how the movie compares to book in the opinions of those who have read and seen the movie. Does the movie do the book justice? Is it a fair adaptation for material that is probably very hard to bring to the screen? Will the book offer alot more insight to the characters and their development? How much of the crossing over from one time to another can I expect to see? For example, I am sure the tom hanks characters from Adam Ewing's story, Luisa Reys story and the after the fall story are the same connected soul but the other 3 are just added by the movie for a little fun, right? Id assume the movie takes alot of liberties in this area?
