The first trailer is amazingly great. It is one of the longest trailers that I know of and yet I never felt bored by it.
However I find the film to be awesome and at no point do I think it made 'cheeseball choices'

shareAgree. I haven't seen the film yet but noticed it on Netflix in Canada the other day since then I've watched the trailer a dozen times it is just incredible!
I can't wait to watch the movie just need a solid 3 hours to invest!
Thank you so much for this. I can't get over how much I adore that first trailer. It seems no one else appreciates it. So its nice to know there are others who love it just as much as I do. Sadly the movie doesn't nearly measure up, but I think that first trailer almost makes the whole thing worth it. I read the book too which I love as well.

Is that the one which is like 6 minutes long? Hated it. For me, a trailer should pique the interest; intrigue the viewer without trying to show the whole story in microcosm. But this one just splices together a load of wonderful images, out of context. Of all the films that can't be encapsulated in short form, it's this one.

I agree with your last point but this is still one of the best trailers of all time....and the movie just about lives up to it which is impressive.
It is a long film so a long trailer is acceptable in this circumstance.
