Where are Tom Hanks & HB with their many grand kids supposed to be? Mars?
Can't be Venus since it's inhospitable and can't be anything farther than Mars for Earth to appear that big (discernible) in the sky.

At the end, a grandchild asks him to tell about "the big sleep". I imagine this would be their journey to their new planet in a different solar system that may have taken many, many years depending on how fast space travel is in this story. So neither Venus or Mars but a different place altogether.
p.s. Maybe someone who knows our location in the milky way can speculate how far away they are from Earth.
Thanks for the reply. But at the end, he points Earth out in the sky and it looks slightly smaller than a marble. It wouldn't be visible at all past Saturn, never mind from a neighboring solar system MUCH farther away.
If you were on a moon of Neptune or Uranus, you couldn't see Earth with the naked eye. So it has to be Mars or maybe one of the moons of Jupiter or Saturn at the most.

I disagree on the size you describe, I only see a bunch of stars he's pointing to. The problem with your theory of it being Mars or a moon of Jupiter is that they are outdoors, breathing without special equipment and without any protective clothing. Neither Mars or any moons of Jupiter would afford such a hospitable environment. But the movie is a fantasy so I suppose the laws of physics don't have to apply here.

I took a screenshot of the screen and as you can see, Earth is distinctly visible (in the scene, it glitters for a sec just as he points at it) and you can see it's blue color, which you can't once you go beyond Jupiter, let alone into a neighboring solar system.

Earth can actually be seen all the way from Saturn, which the Cassini spacecraft proved in 2013.
It actually took a photo of Earth from way out there, where our planet shows up as a very bright blue dot:

So that does open up the possibilities of them having Terra formed Saturn it self in that distant future, because Saturn has a gravity that is only slightly higher than the gravity on Earth.
