What idiot watched Boba Fett in the OT and then wrote this crap?

Jon Favreau? Really? I find it hard to believe that Jon Favreau would misinterpret the character so utterly. He's supposed to be the guy to save Star Wars from Kathleen Kennedy, because he's supposed to be the guy who understands what Star Wars is all about. And then he writes a merciless bounty hunter as some sort of wannabe crime boss with a heart of gold. That guy on the screen ain't Boba Fett. Not only is he too old and fat to be the guy who fell into the Sarlacc pit, but his whole personality changed, too.

Boba Fett was supposed to be a Clint Eastwood-type from the Dollars trilogy. A ruthless man of few words with a talent for violence and the will to profit from it. That's what we got in the OT. This Book of Boba Fett guy ain't him.

I direct you to this thread I started: https://moviechat.org/tt13668894/The-Book-of-Boba-Fett/6215be117fada62c75ab3c09/The-True-Purpose-of-this-Show

So the answer to your question is "Kathleen Kennedy."

Obviously they weren't going by the OT. if they were, he should have stayed dead. They ruined Boba Fett for me the minute they decided to add him to Attack of the Clones. Turning him into a clone was stupid. This little punk kid and all that stuff just wasn't for me. They are also going by the old EU books. I enjoyed reading them as a teen but I never considered them 'canon.' Putting that kind of stuff into the movies and shows is just not my cup of tea. Some characters don't need back story. Some characters don't need redemption arcs. Characters, like Loki, GREAT for redemption arcs because their character is so complex. Fett was literally just a baddie. a 'baddie of the week' even. Never meant to be anything more than an minor obstacle for our heroes. Seeing the kind of build up they bring around this character is so weird for me. I completely get the interest fans have for me but for me personally, less is more.

If you want a better story, there are some great EU books someone wrote about Boba Fett's life after the Sarlaac, stories that made much more sense than the story on the tv show.

Why can't Favreau be responsible for the character's change?

reply

He can. But if he is, he's revealed as an idiot.

reply

Why assume it was her? This was his show.

reply

I'm not assuming it's her. Another commenter is.

reply

My bad. I misunderstood your OP.

reply

Yeah, I'm just expressing my amazement that he did something so stupid with this character, not doubting that he's ultimately responsible.

reply

OT Boba Fett was a doofus who couldn't stop himself from going straight into the Sarlacc pit because a blind guy clumsily smacked his jetpack with a staff completely by accident.

reply

Bad luck can happen to anyone. Doesn't make him a doofus.

Good point.
